Bowie In The 70's
My take on one of the greatest decades. This is going to take much longer than I'd thought. I need to re-listen, and fact check. Hopefully I'll get it finished before I leave June 11th.

I want to mention something nice that happened to me today, in part to document, for my own sake, that good things still happen in this horrible world. It involves the London Underground, an escalator, a small boy and some rubber ducks.

Unaccustomed as I am to grumpy posts: I see on the BBC ānewsā that there is no news on the England menās football squad. But thereās a whole detailed BBC story on what they āexpectā will be the news quite soon, but itās possible they might be wrong, but they donāt think they will be.

While Boris Johnson was mayor of London there were 72,000 knife attacks, 16,000 gun crime offences, and at least 62,000 racially motivated violent crimes. But apparently, those didn't count.

How would it change football if a 0-0 draw counted as 0 points each? With the reward of a point the only losers now are fans and TV. Especially away fans. Where one team is a yo-yo club and a game gets to a late stage theyād have nothing to gain by parking the bus. Any down sides? Has it been tried?

In 2008 a story broke that Robin Gunningham was Banksy. So the police looked into misdemeanours associated with Banksy. The ānewā story seems to be that those enquiries into Robin Gunningham were into Robin Gunningham. Making a story out of a plain tautology is the most 2026 thing possible.

People do what you pay them to do. You pay corporate executives to make stock prices go up, not to make better products. You pay politicians to get re-elected, not to govern well. You pay reporters to get a bigger audience, not to tell the truth. And so forth. Be aware of what you pay people to do

Letās talk about Smelt! We want to make an always-on podcast channel made up of multiple short-run scripted comedy series. This is because making a new channel for every series is a huge barrier to getting traction and attention, so we want to build an audience of people willing to try new things.
