Yeah, there is a quirky dynamic where books by women are presumed to be for women and books by men are presumed to be for everyone, and honestly while there was very little interest in courting women as a customer demographic, there seems to be some rage at losing them as a built in audience.

Depends on the story I'm working on. I have written about babalawos who need to offer sacrifices before accessing power, gods who just do stuff because they're gods obviously, wizards who perform magic by using mathematics. The key is finding what works for the story tbh.

I saw someone say AI is useful because it generates ideas. My dude, I'm full of ideas. I have docs and docs marked under 'ideas.' I have outlines and fragments of stuff I might work on. Trunked stories galore. Even if I continue to write a novel a year for the next 40 years I won't run out of ideas.

Just signed a contract for my second translation! My story, Child Of The River, published in Lightspeed Magazine will be translated into Chinese next month by SFW. 🫡
