I haven't been able to share any rough sketches in a while, but this project isn't covered by a WotC NDA, so here we go! A lovely author client is letting me go hog wild with something that mostly just needs to sit between genres vibe-wise, and I'm having fun. :-)

I'm slated to be the first overseas guest artist for Cardfest in Santiago, Chile! Sometimes things work out in unpredictable ways. I was bummed not to be part of Gen Con this year after so many years exhibiting, but it turns out that week I'll visit South America for the first time instead!

Just a few of my favorite artist proof paintings in acrylic! As I slog through a particularly difficult painting I can't yet share, I have to remind myself of the wins.

Successfully ran my first session as a dungeon master! Starting their adventures in Shadowdale with MY art was pretty cool (hey, just following instructions from the book, haha). I think the Littlest Art Director is hooked!

While I can't share most of what I'm working on, at least there's always proofs!

Perhaps overshadowed by other news, but it means so much to me to have been received by fans of Magic the Gathering like this. The past couple days have been exhausting in the best way. Among other things, a lady from NASA came by to tell me my spacescapes are enjoyed by folks there. Oh, my heart!

Magic Con Vegas begins shortly! Should be a busy and most excellent weekend, seeing lots of friends and fans. Anyone who wants to check out the original painting for Library of Alexandria should come by and check that out before the collector comes by to get it on Sunday!

Our time in Japan is almost done, but what a great time it's been!

A much simpler set-up than usual! But the event has been a success. I don't think I've altered so many cards in my life! Turns out, Slay the Spire is a hit in Japan like everywhere else, so, many altered playmats as well.

My newly revealed art: "Library of Alexandria" an MTG card for the Secrets of Strixhaven set (Arena/online use only). It was a great honor and a fun challenge to illustrate such a classic card! Many thanks to AD Zack Stella for entrusting me with it.

Sometimes you just want to paint a mountain! Here's a recent digital comp that I'm prepping to paint. I adapted a plein air sketch I did of Mt. Baker many years back. Anyone want to hazard a guess what I'm adapting it *into*? 😁

"Fabled Passage". I'm often asked 'What is your favorite MTG piece you've made?'. I've given a variety of answers over the years; it's not easy to choose a favorite child. This one gave the most freedom to do my thing, and it's my phone background. It's got a good claim to the title.
