Well, well, it's #portfolioday already? I just got back home from a trip, so I'm out of the loop. However, if you like fantastical landscapes, then I got some for you! I'm mostly working for MTG and D&D these days.

Our time in Japan is almost done, but what a great time it's been!

A much simpler set-up than usual! But the event has been a success. I don't think I've altered so many cards in my life! Turns out, Slay the Spire is a hit in Japan like everywhere else, so, many altered playmats as well.

My newly revealed art: "Library of Alexandria" an MTG card for the Secrets of Strixhaven set (Arena/online use only). It was a great honor and a fun challenge to illustrate such a classic card! Many thanks to AD Zack Stella for entrusting me with it.

Sometimes you just want to paint a mountain! Here's a recent digital comp that I'm prepping to paint. I adapted a plein air sketch I did of Mt. Baker many years back. Anyone want to hazard a guess what I'm adapting it *into*? 😁

All our visas are sorted for the upcoming Japan trip! I'll be enjoying some family vacation, but first an official appearance at MTG Artist Meetup SUPER that will be held in the Science and Technology museum in downtown Tokyo right next to the Imperial Palace grounds: tokyomtg.com/feature.html...

"Fabled Passage". I'm often asked 'What is your favorite MTG piece you've made?'. I've given a variety of answers over the years; it's not easy to choose a favorite child. This one gave the most freedom to do my thing, and it's my phone background. It's got a good claim to the title.

New artwork for Numenera! "To Emerald City Above", acrylics 20x10''. Btw, this is definitely my weird take on Wizard of Oz. The city is obvious, but I rather enjoyed interpreting the adventuring party riding a giant dog-eared jellyfish with a sphinx, robot, and construct in the mix.

I'm happy to say that my piece, 'Greyhawk' will be making an appearance in the Infected By Art annual publication later this year! Many, many thanks again to my art director on the piece, Kate Irwin, for entrusting me with such a classic D&D landmark!

I so happy that two of my pieces from the 'MTG in Miniature' show at Gallery Nucleus have sold! It's a show with 333 paintings & drawings by 111 MTG artists on the backs of artist proofs. It's well worth checking out if just for the sheer variety of art.

Continuing through my dragons painted in recent years, I call this one 'Blue Guardian', for D&D, Shadow of the Dragon Queen

"Portal to Ysgardium", D&D, Planescape. Technically not dragons in this one, but dragon eels come pretty close! Better hope your living raven-boat gets you to safety.

"Silver's Vengeance", D&D Shadow of the Dragon Queen, 2022. I figured I'd show off some of my more 'serious' dragons as well. There's a few fun narrative moments happening as people try to escape her wrath.

I thought 'long and hard' about what I wanted to post for #dragonappreciationday #appreciateadragonday. I've painted official dragons for Dungeons & Dragons, after all. However, perhaps it's most appropriate to show a dragon "appreciating" and in turn being appreciated by another dragon?

Today I stopped by Wizards HQ to see a Dragon about a Dungeon, or perhaps the other way around! I'm kicking myself that I forgot to take a selfie with the Squen and Cragg muppets who were also hanging out there.

I encourage everyone competing with me in any way to use as much AI as they can. When your enemy is making a mistake, don't interrupt them. This a guarantee their blade is gonna chip and shatter.

Ohoho, I'm heading to Portland next week for my first convention of the year! On the one hand, I do like to hibernate in my art cave for the winter; on the other hand, Portland is a very short drive away. I always have a good time, raiding their bookstores and food trucks if nothing else!

A new painting recently on the easel!

Ok, this was pretty exciting for me. I've sent my art to some far off destinations before, but this might just be tied for most remote (so far)! I'm glad it'll be enjoyed in an interesting corner of the world.

Today is my birthday! 🎂 I feel grateful for everyone who supports me, my art and the work I love. It makes even the hardest days brighter and gives me the strength to keep creating🫶 If you could spare a repost, it would mean a lot and help my work reach more people 🤗
