Neo-fascism is not a materialist response to anything. It is a revolt of the privileged, so bored by their prosperity that they are reigniting world-historical ideological struggle just to feel something for once in their miserable, empty lives.

I don't think people realized the extent to which the current push for age-verification everywhere has been powered by the for-profit age-verification industry. At every legislative hearing. Partnerships with censors. Wild, unsubstantiated claims of efficacy and ease. All to create a market.

Johnny Carson was a skeptic; he was a member of CSICOP (now CSI) along with people like James Randi, Carl Sagan, and Martin Gardner. He was as close to the exact opposite of Rogan, intellectually and socially, as it is possible to be.

This from a Guardian profile of Laverne Cox, and it strikes me that it's true for writing, as well. "Cox’s acting career was ignited by studying under Susan Batson . . . who told her: 'Work is at its highest level when the character’s unfulfilled need is infused into every beat.'”

It's quite something to see Wings Over Scotland salivating at the thought of a Tory/Reform team-up in Scotland seizing power by uniting their vote. His thing used to be Scottish Independence. Transphobia as the gateway drug to the far-right strikes again.

Saying this now, just in case - - New Yorkers hated Giuliani on 9/10, couldn't wait to get rid of him - Giuliani was in the street on 9/11 bc the Command Center at 7WTC was destroyed (he put it there to be near Judi Nathan) - Giuliani killed 343 firemen by forcing cheap radios on them

When I was on Cambridge City Council I went to the funeral of a Tory colleague from the Fens who had sat on the Cambridgeshire Health Committee with me. His, also Tory (although they're probably all Reform now) colleagues gave the eulogy. And they used it to settle scores decades old.
