the bike lane on this road doesn't give much confidence... the flex posts (too far apart to be useful) always get shorn off their base, especially on the bend around the cemetery. commuters also use this road as a shortcut because it doesn't have many lights

Three months after Ottawa removed its automatic safety cameras, the share of drivers following the speed limit plunged from 87% to 41%(!). "High-end speeding" is up 10x. Automatic enforcement saves lives. If you remove it, people will die.

"It’s time to reframe the narrative on traffic fines. Viewed as a way to punish drivers for breaking the rules, traffic fines are rarely perceived as a crucial element of road injury prevention. Fines act as a powerful deterrent preventing crashes and reducing injuries and deaths."

Automated Speed Enforcement (aka photo radar) was a proven deterrent to speeding in school zones. Since the Province took it away, speeding has heavily increased, putting our kids in #CollegeWard and across the city at risk.

It costs the City of Ottawa $465/person each year to serve new low-density homes, over & above what it receives from property taxes/fees. On the other hand, high-density infill such as apartment buildings pays for itself plus an extra $606/person each year. Sprawl costs, infill saves. #UrbanTruth
