I mean, why would we need official statistics when a DoorDasher can bring it, lukewarm and possibly missing an item, to our door (and sometimes to our neighbor's door, but who's counting)?

Why is it that every disappeared US citizen is not front page news? At the very least we should have a little box with a count of the number of citizens who have been taken away and are not locatable and a link to a story with photos & min-bios, just as we used to do with military casually figures.

Reminder... ending SNAP benefits is a policy *choice*

Congressional Republicans shut down the government and now 42 million Americans risk losing their food assistance in November. I joined my colleagues to demand USDA use available funding and its legal authority to deliver benefits. Congress provided this funding for exactly this reason.

This, folks, is the appropriate time for "thoughts and prayers." When everything has been done that can be done... and it's too early to start recovery work. May everyone get through the night safely.
