ngl, I really, REALLY don't get the complaint that DS9 is "too dark". Like, it certainly has dark moments, but it's ultimately a very hopeful show, and it wears its heart on its sleeve. I feel like, if DS9 is "too dark" for you, it calls into question your view on media in general.
