I don't really know how anybody can hope for larger scale action like a general strike when it's so easy to just do the "those blue haired libs want your cookie" routine, and the left is like "here's why we don't want cookies" like that's the actual fucking problem lol

Americans hear that rich people don't pay taxes and float off of rental income and instead of being angry about how unfair that is, they're like "hell yeah I can't wait for that to be me, fuck you all" and I don't know if that can really be fixed, I don't know if it's possible

high turnover in any system prevents the growth of expertise and skilled craft as it breaks the chain of teaching and experience being based down, this is something we've seen happen with dire consequences in the american tech sector

I do not hold business entities as sacrosanct and don't really care if Toys 'R Us/EA/etc. disappear, but investment capital always destroys valuable services and products while leaving scores of people jobless. It makes life worse for everyone except the predators strip-mining their "acquisitions"

Now, more than ever, we need to stand up against attacks on the concept of expertise, to push back on the idea that all arguments, no matter how poorly-supported or financially-conflicted, as equally valid.

capitalism is like, a really really huge pyramid scheme. When enough people aren't seeing any kind of benefit of capitalism, everything stalls. The whole point is to circulate money, so when it doesn't- bc poor people have none and rich people hoard/accumulate it all- everything just sort of stops

I will be a forever hater of the term โcancel culture,โ a truly epic tool of context collapse and reductionism that has only benefited the powerful. Folks are always using this term to talk about critique of a celebrity and social campaigns against the marginalized like theyโre the same phenomenon.

like, sincerely, the people who are entering the "male loneliness epidemic" stuff into our discourse are ignoring that women - not men - have materially, literally lost rights in the past several years the right to bodily autonomy was literally stripped from women! men are not the victims!

I also want to mention that Andrew Wakefield was paid by a lawyer, representing families who didnโt want to vaccinate their kids, to come up with a study that he could cite in the lawsuit to give further credence to their plight. Aka HUGE conflict of interest

-Andrew Wakefield said not to take the official MMR vaccine because it caused something in the bowels which caused autism. However you should take his version of the MMR vaccine which he just so happened to have available for purchase. What a dumb world

Oh my god what a repeat of history. Context: the bad administration says that Tylenol causes autism and to use their recommended treatment instead, which so happens to be owned by one of their benefactors. In 1998 when the stupid and false โautism is caused by vaccinesโ study was published- (1/?)

i'm against the new TOS because no matter how uncomfortable you are with certain subjects, it's very easy to see how bad-faith interpretations of art could be weaponized, especially against marginalized artists, who are more likely to be targeted for harassment

Itโs funny to see the secret to making bank in animation is creating serialized shows catered towards girls/young women. Felt like, for the longest time, this was a demographic the big companies did everything they could to avoid appealing to! They musta left just SO much money on the table.
