To conclude our Primer Method winter session, Aimee Taylor will talk about Bayesian models to classify recurrent infections in clinical trial participants. She will present key concepts underpinning these models, focusing on identity-by-descent and sibship graphs.

Our Primer MEthod seminar are resuming! Today Jean-Baptiste Masson will talk about variational Bayesian inference, presenting principles and associated methods, and introducing concepts and general approaches to amortized inferences.

A new Primer Method today: Sebastien Duchene will present Bayesian phylodynamic models, discussing the prior distributions of key parameters, and the extent to which they can impact downstream inferences of the evolutionary dynamics of organisms.

This is the weekly anoucement for our Method Primer seminar: next Monday (the 9th), @fredlem.bsky.social will present a Bayesian version of the phylogenetic bootstrap in which alignment sites are assigned uninformative prior probabilities, an approach especially relevant for viral phylogenies!
