Let me just say as a school librarian… Right now the only task at hand is getting kids to read ANYTHING versus mindlessly scrolling. That battle is won or lost in grade school and no one book, genre, or style wins. What works for one kid, won’t work for another. We need every kind of book.

Thanks. There is significant pressure for schools to adopt prescribed programs that promise the world. What parents and community members don’t always see is how access to books (read alouds, independent reading, and full texts in an instructional context) grows limited (and then becomes the norm).
