18 years into this agenting gig and every year, I still learn something new about the job and how to best do it.

I know I've shared this before so bear with me, but this one time, many years ago, I had an offer on a submission 1 hour after I sent it out, & to this day, when I send out projects, I hope for an offer in 1 hour. It literally happened ONCE & still I'm hopeful every time.

Yesterday (April 1) was my first "Open to PB Text Queries on the 1st" and I received around 100 queries. Wowzers!

As I told a client this morning, agents are now regularly in the position of NOT receiving responses on submissions. Even when we have offers in hand. Why? We're not entirely sure, but part of it is more agents, more submissions, fewer houses, fewer editors, more demands on editors, tighter market.
