Out of curiosity how do you get consent from a drawing. Like maybe you should worry less about whether or not a cartoon has rights and more about whether real life trans and Palestinian people do

These are largely freelance and precarious workers, and the further erosion of their income and working conditions might not show up in macroeconomic data. But we must consider how artists are losing meaningful income and support to automated systems that have, cruelly, been trained on their work.

Freelance illustration gigs drying up. Ad agencies using Midjourney instead of hiring human artists. Costume design turned over to AI wholesale. Good work vanishing. These are the stories of working visual artists, who describe losing jobs, wages, and hope as their clients and bosses embrace AI.

Artists are losing work, wages, and hope as bosses and clients embrace AI
Visual artists, illustrators and graphic designers share their stories about how AI is being used to lower wages, degrade work and even replace it altogether, in this installment of AI Killed My Job.

and--idk quite how to articulate this--but the work of it is... critical to art-making. like you discover your intentions through the labor of expressing them. if I'd woken up at 17 with the technical ability to write a novel, i wouldn't have known what i was trying to say. the work IS the product.

I've done a lot of books, and I have very few regrets for my

career so far. The one thing I do regret though, was changing a scene in Elizabeth Warren's Pinkie Promises. You see, in the original manuscript, the main character encounters a group of bullies picking on another kid - 1/6

The last bit of summer. 🌦️ I was thinking back to childhood days. Right about now I would be savoring the very last bits of summer before the back to school activities started. Last minute trips to the shore, sleeping in late, playing outside… all that good stuff.

These days I've been changing my portfolio a bit. The one I had didn’t quite work lately, despite all the adjustments I’d done to it. For this new portfolio, I chose Squarespace. It works really well, I like how easy it is to make changes. Have a look!

Thought I was just really 💩 at my job and life but I looked it up and the cost of living has increased by 38.4% since 2015 - nearly 40% in 10 years. No illustrators I know have had a pay rise - in fact some fees are going down. No wonder it feels so bloody hard atm. Send cute gifs or money lol.
