i literally had no idea of this game's existence until a few weeks ago but "the wanderer: frankenstein's creature" is such a lovely alternative take on the creature's story that also managed to devastate me. absolutely recommended if you're just coming from the movie or book

i don’t want to compare them bc i think they’re both very different BUT something i do find interesting is how nosferatu depicts the grotesque as abhorrent yet undeniable (which makes it so disturbing) while in frankenstein the grostesque is beautiful and asks for admiration

Man is the warmest place to hide

i'm gonna pick this movie down to the bone eventually but considering the time period, this line made me assume that the frankenstein family in this adaptation either owned or were benefactors for slave plantations and i think that adds a whole other messy layer to victor as a person

actually i wonder what might have happened if victor was able to rescue the creature and get him out of the tower before everything went up in flames. probably the most tense and awkward carriage ride back home

his big doe eyes and decrepit complexion have forever endeared me

is it a bit fucked up for me to say that every (yes every) frankenstein adaptation has merit and i'm glad they exist at all

i know nothing about monster high lore but he's their dad now i've decided

the only two people who showed the creature kindness and love and he had to watch them die in his arms

Happy Frankenstein Day! Felt like winding down with some fan art of @realgdt.bsky.social’s flick, which released today on Netflix but is also still in theaters, which is where I recommend seeing it. Loved this film.

not sure if it's visible enough here but that crack along the statue's forehead which resembles the one across the creature's means that victor was—whether intentionally or subconsciously—trying to recreate the guardian angel from his childhood
