Researchers discovered a new ladybird 🐞 beetle species, Parastethorus pinicola, on a Japanese black pine at Kyushu University’s Hakozaki Satellite. The beetle measures approximately one millimeter in length.

Another excellent find by @vc40ladybirds.bsky.social during our recent trip to Berck, France was Dusky Ladybird, Scymnus rubromaculatus. The first time I have seen this c.2.5mm long species which is recently established in a couple of places in SE England.

Had a mooch in SW Shropshire yesterday, finding Rhyzobius lophanthae (Bristly Ladybird) larvae, Stethorus pusillus (Dot Ladybird) adult, and the adorable speckly headed larva! With the tip of my thumbnail, which it then decided to explore! #VC40Ladybirds #MicroLadybird

Three 'good' ladybirds from Stodmarsh, East Kent on 16th June. Two of 7 Water Ladybirds, 1 of 2 Spotted Red Marsh and a single Red Marsh Ladybird, which is the first time I've found this species at this site.

A 24-spot Ladybird (Subcoccinella vigintiquattuorpunctata) gets my vote for the cutest beetle larva! There were hundreds of these larvae last year at this site but we've only seen a handful this year. #ukladybird

At least 60 2-spot Ladybirds at Balgay/Victoria Park, Dundee today in small ornamental garden, including 2 different colour morphs - 6-spot 'sexpustulata' (pics 1 & 2) & 4-spot melanic 'quadrimaculata' (pics 6-8). Few 7-spot Ladybirds around too, & 10-spot Ladybird was in a nearby Elm. #UKwildlife

In Leominster on Sunday, I found several Nephus quadrimaculatus (Ivy Ladybird) in a conifer, which was absolutely infested with mealybugs (I think!). Some of the twigs were white with them! #MicroLadybird #Coccinellidae #Herefordshire

This Aphidecta obliterata (Larch Ladybird) larva had really been tucking into the adelgids, with all the waxy filaments it's covered in! From south Shropshire last week #VC40Ladybirds

It was great to see that Calvia decemguttata was recently added to the iRecord species list and we can now view the species details. It will be interesting to see how rapidly they spread, there is a lot of potential habitat in the west of the New Forest. #UKLadybirds
