Stigmella naturnella was discovered only recently in the low countries (nl.pensoft.net/article/99360/) but in my region (Ghent, Belgium) it already seems to be the most common birch #leafminer. It probably spread naturally from S Central Europe. Here's how the mines look. #mothsmatter #teammoth

Was looking grim this morning, with nothing at all in the main trap. But the little 40w trap nearby came up trumps with NFG White-point! Also NFY Acleris sparsana. Yet another Dark Sword-grass was the only other notable from just 8:7!! It’s going to come down to the wire, but 500 is on. #TeamMoth

Up until 10pm last night I could only see two moths around the trap, but by morning ended up with an interesting 20:14. NFG Juniper Carpet (and no, I didn’t bring it home from a subway 😆). Plus 3 NFYs - Brick, Green-b Crescent(☕️) and a lovely Vapourer (only my second ever). #TeamMoth
