'Generally' Orange-tip females lay a single egg per flowerhead on Alliaria petiolata (Hedge Garlic) so we thought this one with 4 eggs & 2 larvae was unusual. Other plants in same patch also had more than 1 ovum per flowerhead. With the aphids there as well it'll soon be v crowded! #orangetip

Not much about in the cool temperatures yesterday in the Yare Valley. Having earlier been thwarted by a rabbit hole finally have a photo of a Hairy Dragonfly (Brachytron pratense) this year. Also a Drinker (Euthrix potatoria) larva that'd been parasitized by the braconid wasp Aleiodes alternator.

I was lucky enough to spend some time with our Entomology collection this week, and sometimes it’s the small things that stick. This is a case of ladybirds 🐞 collected by Alfred Russell Wallace (www.nhm.ac.uk/discover/who...) who co-discovered the idea of natural selection and evolution. Just wow 🤩
