Today's mystery object - does anyone know what this beach find might be? It's made of plastic (not jade, as AI keeps suggesting) and is in the shape of a crown decorated with fleur-de-lis. It's about 3½" square. The plastic seems quite old.

Finally back ashore after 28 years at the bottom of the sea - a Lego life raft from the Great Lego Spill of 1997. Collected yesterday from the crew of a fishing trawler who hauled it up in their nets some 20 miles offshore. One of 28,700 lost overboard from the Tokio Express.

Good old AI has finally solved the mystery for us - the curious objects washing up are not Powerchips from food waste biodegraders or biofilters from waste water treatment plants but Blue Death-Feigning Beetles 🙄

A magnificent by-the-wind sailor or Velella velella washed up this morning, one of the largest we've found. It's often said that most by-the-wind sailors are left-handers, their sails running from upper left to lower right. But this was a right hander.

Anyone else finding these Eno Fruit Salt sachets washed up? In recent days, our friend Rosemary Hill of Beachcombing in Kerry has found dozens on Irish shores. This haul is just from today. All were manufactured in India with an expiry date of May 2025. Picture credit: Rosemary Hill

These mystery objects continue to wash ashore. We've picked up thousands now. Still not entirely sure what they are - quite a few people have suggested they are chips from food waste biodigesters. Lab results showed they contained titanium 'but nothing else of concern'.

An unexpected find on the beach tonight - a sea-weary Mrs White, the Cluedo character who was killed off by game makers Hasbro in 2016. How did the long-time housekeeper end up in the sea? 🤔

Another first for us - a Crafter Chromatic guitar tuner, found washed up from the seabed.

So many jellyfish washed up this morning, mainly blue jellyfish but also these beautiful barrel jellies, gentle giants of the ocean. Sometimes described as dustbin lid jellyfish because of their size, barrel jellies are the UK's largest jellyfish, some measuring 1m in diameter.

So many bizarre things washing up at the moment - did someone throw this coffee machine overboard? 🤔

Another Lego dragon from the Great Lego Spill of 1997 has turned up! It was found today by nine year old Grace at Portwrinkle beach in Cornwall and is one of 33,427 black Lego dragons lost overboard from the Tokio Express.
