I love what they are doing at the Ipswich Golf Course. I was looking over the Gogmagog course near Cambridge last weekend and dreamed of the chalk downland they could restore if they cared. So much potential for wildlife on golf courses.

Wow, this is an important paper. We had some evidence early on from @ukbms.bsky.social sites but rarely had good data in grazing regimes. But @tombrereton.bsky.social always said that extensive cattle was the best for butterflies and this add yet more evidence

There are reports of Large Tortoiseshell in Kent and the Isle of Wight. This is about the time they will be coming out of hibernation. So if you see a Tortoiseshell or Comma that looks a little different, take a second look.

This is a pond restored autumn 2024:- A brilliant success. This is near the top of the locsl landscape, but has responded very well to the month or so of above average rainfall here. At Holland Pits several perched ponds very low.

Our 2 new ponds are filling. Most etablished ponds though are still empty or have a long way to go.
