Another fantastic Dragonflies on the Bog volunteer training event took place this weekend at Corrour! ✨ All three of our rare species, were found amongst other peatland specialists and a whopping total of 168 larvae were found across the recently restored pools we surveyed.

England’s 12th Dragonfly Hotspot has been designated at @RSPB Campfield Marsh by the @britishdragonflysociety 🎉 This stunning wetland on the Solway coast is now officially recognised by us for its incredible bog habitats and rare species, including the White-faced Darter, one of England’s rarest.

News to me via Sandwich Bay that on the 19th June, a male BLACK DARTER was seen on the old hoverport at Pegwell. Keep those eyes peeled as Vagrant Emperors are in the UK, and surely Sandwich Bay is due a Scarlet Darter soon! @britishdragonflies.bsky.social @dragonflydamselfly.bsky.social

🚨 New Species Alert for North Wales! 🐉 Last week marked the first confirmed record of Lesser Emperor in North Wales! A male was spotted at Brickfields Pond, Rhyl. 🔍 Keep an eye out, the species might be seen patrolling still water bodies between June and September.
