After an economic crash you always see headlines like What Was Everyone Thinking? What do you mean everyone, most of us are waving our arms and screaming every day, it's a handful of insanely rich assholes who aren't listening

It’s truly tragic how many of these US war criminals like Cheney never face justice and die in their peacefully in their homes in their 80s and 90s. I want to be happy he is dead but I am not. The million people he killed didnt get the luxury to die how he did.

Everyone hates Fallon for being a soulless husk, but all of his competition is getting literally canceled for making benign political commentary. So yeah, who’s laughing now? Just Fallon, no one else finds him funny.

Trans rights are not the rights of a tiny minority, trans rights are everyone’s rights to self-determination, control of our bodies, and a society where opportunity and aesthetics are not restricted by sex assigned at birth You should support and defend trans people because trans people are people

what ezra doesn't seem willing to accept is that charlie kirk was part of a political movement that does not think that "we are going to have to live here with each other" and is fact very interested in the elimination and/or subjugation of many, many people

For context that's a third the price the RIAA expected a single human to pay for just downloading 24 songs a decade ago (after cutting the ruling down from $1.5m, or $62,000 per song), and that's not adjusting for inflation:

In a time that feels like the end of modern life, here’s a list of relatively inconsequential things that make life better I hope still happen: 1. a new Jim O’Rourke pop album 2. a new Nancy Meyers’ movie 3. I have a phone that doesn’t have a broken charging port after 18 months

Until that's done, I think one has to take very seriously the possibility that the regulated markets ideal really does lead to a concentration of economic power that eventually under-cuts the rule of law necessary to sustain itself (a very old worry about liberalism!) might actually have been true.

With all the recent Hail to the Thief retrospectives (the theater production, now the live album), it makes Thom Yorke’s mealy-mouthed statement on Gaza all the more disappointing. 20 years later and his energy has gone from “Tony Blair and Bush are charlatans” to “Well pobody’s nerfect”
