I had that moment in the Majesta tonight; going on its first decent drive up through the hills and back around the city, the pleasant glow of the instruments and headlights, eating up the kays in comfort. Booting it down the on ramp with Siamese Dream cranked on the ridiculous stereo. Love this car.

Bought a translated owners manual for the Majesta, and it is full of gems like these. Still incredibly handy to have for figuring out all the little qUirKS anD fEAtuRes.

Do any detailing gurus have tips on cleaning what I’m guessing is old oil stains out of thick carpet mats? The bissell has made a difference but they still look a bit grot after two passes with the stain remover / agitator brush.

Cool Bathurst stream channel 7, very awesome. I can almost see the pixels that make up the cars if I squint just right. I notice the ads don’t seem to have a problem playing though…

My sister just got rid of her Citroen C4 (dpf and ad blue issues, much smoke, trim falling off) and bought a Hyundai i40 instead. I have to admit I completely forgot these existed. It’s a damn cromulent car- spacious and comfy. Drives better than I thought it would. Heated and cooled seats too!

Bring back Aussie Fords, obviously.

The Spacia is now officially an 8 seater again! Unfortunately the folding seat had been pushed up against something narrow while in storage in the previous owners shed - so it has developed a noticeable dent. It has now been designated the “gooch seat” until it sorts itself…

Tried to replace the sway bar drop links on the van yesterday, only to find out they were the wrong parts once I was under it. On the bright side I found a present left for me by the previous owner - a spare key! It was wrapped in 2 plastic bags then duct taped to the sway bar!

The Clio got some treats today, should be good for another 5 years. Luckily didn’t need to do the cam dephaser or it would have been even more eye-wateringly expensive. 8 hours of labour to get it all installed…

Just for fun, here’s some super saturated photos of my first car, a 1985 Honda Prelude. It was an automatic 1.8 12v twin carb. Photos were probably taken with the leftover shots in a disposable camera circa 1997.

Needs some tidying up and possibly more filing / sanding to make the surrounding fascia fit a bit better, but my up-spec Camry head unit is now installed in the Spacia! CD, tape deck, AM/FM what more could you want?
