good to see this. Musk is clearly getting visibly angry at the rising awareness of how many hundreds of thousands of people his DOGE wilding spree has already killed, millions more if this stays in place into the future. New: NSF is tightening its conflict of interest rules in what could be a headache for the understaffed agency. Starting in August, reviewers will no longer be able to participate in a panel with any proposals from their own institution. My reporting for

We have been growing, but you have to have dorms for students to live in. Also the number of students in AL who defect to far-away states will not be double digit %. Universities are ocean liners; they move slowly and not wrecking them would be way easier than rerouting to pick up iceberg survivors.

There are few researchers for whom an entire field is so clearly distinct before and after their work. The gap between evolutionary biology "before Joe" and "after Joe" is just awesome. It is a measurably different enterprise, and the reach of his influence doesn't end at the phylogeny. Hats off!

We criticize people on the right for sharing pseudoscience that coincides with their world view, and we should. But we shouldn't pretend that doesn't happen on the time on the left, also. Here's a clear example of exactly that.
