The performative use of black culture in the furry fandom is becoming more prevalent. As a black person who was raised in the real hood, seeing nonblack furries portray what they idealize as “gangster” culture isn’t funny. Surviving in the trenches is not an aesthetic or a joke.

Also you might unintentionally fall into casting stereotypes, e.g. the Sassy Woman is a Latina, your only East-Asian actor is playing a medium, the only Black man in your cast is a criminal and so on. I've come across this in many shows, and you should be doing the work to avoid this.

reminder that color-blind casting in the audio scene will always lead to a white-leaning cast because the majority of people who audition are white. write diversity into your shows and cast intentionally, a character's race/gender DO impact who they are and you should know that before casting.
