This week's ACIP meeting was full of the same intentionally misleading fearmongering that causes vaccine hesitancy. Children and families deserve better — public health information grounded in science.

Meissner is upset that the AAP boycotted the meeting, and claims it is childish. I would so much rather be childish than have professional medical organizations lend legitimacy to this farce. The AAP's (and IDSA, SAHM, SHEA) example should be followed by all professional medical societies.

Today's ACIP meeting is usually a time where experts come together to inform the future of vaccines. That is not what today will be. That is not what we can stand behind. The AAP will continue to recommend its own childhood vaccine schedule -- just as we have since the 1930s

Hepatitis B can be passed from parent to baby at birth - and when that happens, the consequences can be deadly. It is unscientific and dangerous to intentionally ignore the success of U.S. vaccination programs or argue that the U.S. should not vaccinate babies for hepatitis B at birth.

Being a pediatrician, and helping families to raise healthy kids, is the honor of my life. I was happy to share my perspectives on this amazing profession with @ameracadpeds.bsky.social.

Kids DO get more shots now than they did decades ago. There’s also a lot less death from preventable illnesses. That’s a win! Let’s dive into the wonderful world of Vaccine Schedules. I met with Sawyer, a 6 year old from the OC who relies on the world-class care of Children's Hospital of Orange County. Cuts to Medicaid would cause brave kids like him to lose access to lifesaving care in our communities.  Kids like Sawyer are counting on us. We must protect Medicaid.
