I'll be 50 tomorrow. I was going dancing with my dearest friends today. But my lovely mum collapsed on Monday and has been teetering on the brink ever since, so instead I will shortly be going back to the hospital to try and get her to eat, and to listen to whatever Mum wants to say.

I got changed into my gardening clothes to do some much-needed gardening, sat on the bench with a cup of tea, looked at the parched disaster of my back garden for a bit, and now I'm changing out of my gardening clothes into something cleaner to cook dinner. Zero gardening done. Yay me.

Car broke down 3hrs into our journey home from Wales, 2hrs from home. Waited four hours for the breakdown service. Our car stinks of teenager shoes, we've been in it for 12 hrs, and my husband is now driving home so slowly you'd think we were in a hearse. "It's a comfortable speed" he says.

I had to go straight to bed after Brownies because the BBC series of Day of the Triffids was on and it was too scary for me.

It's a been a complicated week in which events have really cut into my #OFMD reading time, which is just rude. Just about kept up with smashing chapters of Please Let Me Hold You, Wingman and Out Of the Bag.

I don't often post pics of my kids on social media, but we were in the same garden today as 10 yrs ago, and they sabotaged all attempts to recreate a pic so I'm sharing the little rotters. These were the most normal of ten attempts. The original bench has vanished so it was futile from the start!
