Alt text doesn't have to be anything elaborate, just 5-10 words that explain what you wanted people to know about. You don't need to describe everything unless it's relevant. And alt text doesn't need to be written in formal writing style either! Just chill.

Interesting. This post is the first time I've used braille characters on BlueSky. On my computer, the characters look correct. On my phone, one character looks incorrect. The apostrophe is dot 3. The closing single quote mark is dot 6, then 356. On my phone, the 6 looks like a 3. I wonder why.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for speech to text software for Linux? The systems on Android work pretty well but I'd really like to use it on my desktop computer.

I'm proofreading a braille text. I noticed that the software coded most apostrophes as closing single quote marks, which is an entirely different character(s) in braille. ⠄ = apostrophe ⠠⠴ = closing single quote mark This is why we proofread. Don't trust automated transcriptions (or translations).

Dark mode Zotero?? Can it be real?? Very excited about this. Not sure I like the look of the new interface, but I'll get used to it—having dark mode capabilities is 100% worth it.

It seems gmail does not have a proper dark mode. How has Google not figured that out yet? The Firefox plugin to force it into dark mode doesn't seem to work properly either. If anyone has any tips on how to make this work, please tell me!

Gmail folks: Is there a way to set proper dark mode? I see the option to set a dark theme, which puts my inbox in dark mode, but the emails themselves are still white with black text.

Disabled math is taking the Google Maps estimate for how long it takes to walk somewhere, adding X% to get the amount of time it should take you to walk there, then multiplying it by Y-pain-factor to get the real amount of time it will take to walk there.

In 2023, I fell down the stairs and permanently damaged my knee. I have tried several therapies and surgery. I'm still disabled and I use a mobility aid—probably forever. You should care about accessibility regardless, but if you need that extra motivation... any day it could be you who needs help.

If i knew exactly what i was doing before i made a thing, I wouldn’t want to do it. I love being able to look at my work & say, where did that come from? How did i come up with that? It might look to outsiders that you knew what you were doing all along. But in reality it only emerges along the way!
