There is no such thing as one objective narrative of history. Historians are actually a bunch of weird little guys obsessed with things like wars, yes, but also Washington's thighs and Henry's codpiece. Some weird little guys got into a textbook and some didn't.

It is frustrating to learn something about yourself because you made the wrong decision in the past and have to live with it. It is somehow *the worst* when life then hands you the immediate ability to do the hard thing and learn from your mistake with nice, difficult decisions 🥲
