One of my students just described herself as 'a digital humanist in training' in her final paper (she also just declared the DH minor, so maybe she's feeling particularly confident in her development). Anyway, yay!

Breathe

It was ever thus: minutes after grades come out one student who did a pretty lame final project emails to complain that he ended up with an A- rather than an A. I’d rather focus on the student who struggled all semester but knocked it out of the park on the final.

Grading. And procrastinating. And grading. And … rinse and repeat.

It’s not Day of DH, but it’s definitely going to be a good day full of DH (and contrary to what it might seem, not all my days are DHy!)

On this #DayofDH I’m working on a conference proposal, drafting some text for a grant proposal, prepping to teach my students that you can integrate mapping into text analysis, and cleaning up some entity-rich encoded texts. It’s a happy day!

Playfully: usually I do the pen and ink stuff on other platforms, but a while back I noticed that a lot of folks in DH had been sorted (or self-sorted) into Ravenclaw, so I thought I’d share this here ….

Me all week: today I’m going to get caught up on all that grading. Me every day of said week: meh, I’ll focus on the grading tomorrow. Me today: s**t! I’ve got to do all the grading today!
