I painted these two a few years apart but they always go together so well. I seldom show one without the other. Killarney and Valley.

I am officially between studios. I've been painting in the studio on the left for almost 9 years, as evidenced by the paint around the edges. The new studio feels strange and unsettled but I think that will change. It'll grow on me.

This painting/textile pairing were both inspired by the beautiful colours of the trees at Oxtongue River near Algonquin Park. They'll be exhibited together in July, then the painting will head to the buyer who's graciously agreed to wait till after the show for it. 🙏🏻

I'm working on two very different pieces of art in two locations. Each one tickles a different part of my brain.

I have created a diorama of the Partridge family attacking the Brady Bunch family. My life is very boring.

Allowing people to work from home, whenever possible, would help.

Losing affordable studio space in Toronto is scary. There's so little out there that artists, one of the lowest paid sectors of our economy, can afford. 40 artists I know have the left the city due to studio & living costs. It throttles an industry that contributes millions to TO's economy.

I am an artist. I should not have to do stuff.

Prep-work photos are way less exciting than the painting ones but you can’t have one without the other. This is the second of three layers of gesso which keeps my oil paints from soaking into the wood panel and rotting it over time. My process takes 3 days. Gesso-dry-gesso-dry-gesso-dry-paint.

Two years ago I decided I could no longer stomach putting more money into Galen Weston's pocket. I swore off Loblaws, started shopping at local independent shops, farmers' markets. It took a few months to get a new rhythm. Then a year ago dropped Shoppers Drug Mart, drove a bit further to Rexall. >>

I’ve added to my driving habits. I shout “It’s a normal car!” whenever I see a Range Rover on the road.. This in addition to pointing and laughing at Tesla monstrosities makes me a more alert and engaged driver.

I felt like I woke up in a Charles Dickens novel this morning. Grey skies, snowy rooftops, dark dreary homes, smokestacks belching into the sky. In real life that smoke is steam that dissipates into the sky and the houses and businesses are about to perk up. #Sunrise #Toronto
