Garbage trucks in Bolivia play music like they are ice cream trucks.

Salteñas are stew filled empanadas with a slightly sweet crust. So good. One tour guide said to us, "They say if you come to La Paz and you don't eat a salteña, you weren't really there."

Always risky to drink at high altitude. But I cannot resist an IPA, and when will I have the chance to try an IPA here again? (In Bolivia they say eepah for IPA.)

When you go to a foreign country, visit the cemetery, and pay musicians to serenade a photo of the skull you have back home. And it's raining.

Happy ñatita day to all those who celebrate. Take your skull(s) off their altars and bring them to the cemetery to be blessed by a Catholic priest. Yes, it's November 8th in La Paz, Bolivia and it shall be glorious.

We met artist Mamani Mamani at his gallery. We bought a piece of art and he drew my portrait on the back.

They asked for a volunteer to come.into the ring and be dressed as a cholita and my wife volunteered.

I have so many reasons as a Canadian to avoid the USA. And now they are reducing flights during the government shut down. It's like the country wants Canadians to stay away.

If you follow a leaf blowing in the wind, it will eventually take you to Burger King.

When a Bolivian friend came to Canada, she was delighted by how big and plentiful our paper napkins are. Bolivian napkins are rather small and they often only give you a single square. Cultural difference? Or is it that Canadians have more access to wood and paper?

Llama steak and yucca pancake in a honey and coffee sauce. It was astoundingly good. We had it at the Munaipata coffee farm in Coroico. They also served us llama lasagna.

My cousin wants to make an improv dinner party movie. She has a huge gathering where she invites people to read scripts. We get envelopes full of scraps of paper with doodles. The script includes a form where you can tick these character options: survivor, improves, does not improve. #dream

Dramatic Coroico sky.

I think all human life has value and I am shocked at any philosophy I encounter which says anything different. It seems insane that this even needs to be stated as a belief. How do people lack the imagination to conclude other people are people with hopes and dreams and feelings?

Having pizza and spaetzel for dinner. As one does while in (looks around) Bolivia. Also, Paceña beer.

We went to the cemetery in Coroico and it's... a lot.

Everything has the Buddha nature. Does this cat have it? The cat has it. Does this rock have the Buddha nature? The rock has it. Does this dog turd have the Buddha nature? The dog turd has the Buddha nature. Repeat for 12 chapters. Why are so many Buddhist books like this?

My wife saved this toad that got stuck in the empty wading pool. He is a beaked toad, maybe. There was a second larger toad who was very dead.

We are literally the only people at breakfast in this hotel. Which leads me to believe we are the only people in the hotel. I think there are more staff working than there are guests. Mind you, it's the off season and it's Wednesday.

I am incapable of relaxing which is why this is somewhat wasted on me.

I woke up at 6am and I'm sitting on the hotel room floor, being quiet, to let my wife sleep. I am a good husband. Also the floor is cold.
