Can Murakami do it again tomorrow? 5-game HR streak would tie the longest by an MLB rookie, done 12x including once by a White Sox rookie — 1983 Ron Kittle (@EliasSports) Would also tie the White Sox franchise record for longest such streak, done 7x by 6 players

Anyone who follows baseball knows that Bat/ball boys have an often thankless job. The Phillies, however, made a hype video for theirs, and I LOVE IT.

Early baseball was different. 347 total steals by the 1911 New York Giants? That same year, my idol Christy Mathewson pitched 307 innings for the speedy Giants, winding up with a 1.99 ERA and a 26-13 win-loss record. TWENTY-SIX AND THIRTEEN. Legendary!

🇨🇺 Cuban pitcher Manuel “Cocaína” García died 31 years ago today. Not only does he have an incredible nickname (that he received because his pitches essentially “drugged” opposing hitters), he also had a world class smile. He’s a Hall of Famer in both Cuba and Venezuela.

According to Maybelle Blair, she's still picking gravel out of her backside from sliding in those little skirts the AAGPBL made the players wear Check out Dan Wallach's in-depth interview with her, and follow along via the liner notes he assembles for each podcast, they're amazing (and I'm in 'em⚾)
