We all talk about the trauma of the pandemic as the result of “lockdowns” and public health restrictions. But, for a lot of people, the deepest hurt came from societal abandonment.

Rugged individualism and “you do you” mentality are accelerating our decline. Covid is a perfect example. The virus is airborne. Vulnerable people can’t choose not to breathe air. We all share the air & if we cared about the quality of that air? We could beat the virus.

There is some very good concrete advice here around surveillance, and some head-scratching advice that I am surprised to see in a piece explicitly talking about authoritarianism. Know who you are, yes, but also know who THEY are. Don't bond with them over dogs. Don't make alliances with them.
