Every day I wake up to the news

They did pay him a tremendous amount of money for those rights. I think HBO often pisses him off, but that's what the money is for.

I think it's close to a canned response for him. He knows it is not great for marketing to be publicly beefing with his own TV show, but this stuff also clearly bothers him. Sometimes he can't help himself. His creative side and business side in conflict within himself.

The dance in fire and blood is not a completed story. It is an outline missing vast amounts of dialogue, scenes, connective tissue, and objective truth of events necessary to make a TV show. The dance has a beginning, middle, and end that is true. What it lacks is detail beyond summary.

Also important to mention the unspoken force that lead to this: union busting by Hollywood and HBO. They slashed the budget of the show including two planned episodes, they helped force the strikes that led to a production that had to shoot through those strikes.

Ryan Condal in response to GRRM's post about the gulf between himself and Condal. Tldr, when Condal found himself between a rock and a hard place with HBO, George stopped being helpful or reasonable in how to work around those problems. And more or less quit the show and Condal.

Like the sales tax, tariffs function as regressive taxes that harm lower/middle-income families. They are flat increases. When the costs of goods/essentials rise, those in the lowest income brackets feel the increase more because of the proportional impact on disposable income.
