Don't let this "poor me shut down" narrative overpower the actual story - figures from multiple sources say that he's wrong. He can feel bad about being wrong but that doesn't make him immune from criticism about being wrong. And we should criticise what he says and does. Because he is wrong.

It's not shutting down a debate when one side has facts and the other side makes things up because that's not an actual debate. You can't debate with made up nonsense because it is made up. You can't shut down a debate when there isn't a debate to be had.

Pedalling the same statement, without support, again. A statement that something is incorrect, supported by actual facts, is not "shutting down" a debate. His attempts to paint himself as the poor pauper being shut down with his NATIONAL PLATFORM are a sad play for sympathy that he doesn't deserve.

And, again, most people were not in a position to do this in national media so to portray yourself as shut down is absolutely wild. Additionally, we are here again with you in national media talking about how you're shut down... But you're not because you are literally in a national paper again.

What he's calling "shut down" is people calmly and clearly pointing out the actual numbers which disprove the point he made. That's not being shut down, that's being corrected. And I guess that doesn't feel nice but it's not you being "shut down". It's just actual facts.

He said what he said on national TV and in national newspapers. That's the opposite of shut down, that's actively amplified. He wasn't shut down, he was broadcasted. What he's calling "shut down" is people responding to what he said, which most of us did not have the same national platform to do.

It turns out I'm actually not done ranting about this. He complains that he was "shut down in November" when he tried to discuss this, implying that he had a legitimate point that he simply couldn't make. Every part of that is untrue. First of all, he wasn't shut down because we read what he said.

Sorry but we literally debunked this like last month when he did this dog whistle. Fintan O'Toole literally did the maths, in the Times no less, that showed that this isn't true. Why are we bothering to publish such an obvious lie when we know it's a lie?
