The workshop will pull on many techniques and languages of theatre with a special focus on the presence, play, and relationship to the audience of clowning.This is not a workshop only for clowns (although clowns are very welcome). It's great for actors, directors, musicians, teachers, and visual artists. The goal is to make the performance or piece of art feel more alive both for the maker and the audience.About the Teaching ArtistToph Enany is a US-born, international theatre-maker and pedagogue. He specializes in working across cultures and countries. In recent years, he has co-created the award winning Up Up Up Up Up (a theatre piece that toured Australian festivals and combined Georgian polyphonic music, clown, and physical theatre), was commissioned to co-create and perform a show called the Dentities by the Ziguzag Festival in Malta, was a creative collaborator on designer/clown Paulina Lenoir's hit Edinburgh Fringe Festival debut show Puella Eterna, and has taught on five continents. This year his teaching has included a tour of workshops with theatre companies across India and a 3 week-full time intensive module at the Tunisian National Theatre. Toph holds an MFA in Advanced Devising Practices from arthaus.berlin and trained for two years with Philippe Gaulier. He has also trained with De Castro, Spymonkey, Shakespeare & Company, Odin Teatret, iO Chicago, Bill Irwin, Paola Coletto, Patsy Rodenburg, Audrey Francis, Kimberly Senior, and Moveo.
