Xbox has been carved like a doner kebab, and thousands of people let go, who may well disappear from the industry, all in the name of cutting costs and raising profit. Meanwhile, Microsoft is spending $30bn on datacentres in the UK (which we don't want, thanks) blogs.microsoft.com/on-the-issue...

I'm really sad about this. This seems like the end for id Software as a standalone entity that makes its own games, and it's such a shame given that it was a, making great games and b, because of the incredible history it has. Eurogamer actually grew out of the Quake 2 community scene.

I love this. I love that there's not a hidden failsafe here in that if win the battle in the prologue - which is extremely unlikely - the game handwaves a reason why the big bad can't die. They will - if you can manage it.

Star Wars timeline watch continues with... Skeleton Crew. It's not aimed at an adult audience obviously but I was pleasantly surprised by it. It has that wide-eyed 80s adventure vibe to it, like the Goonies or what's that film where they make a spaceship out of a washing machine in a scrap yard?

I watched He-Man yesterday and I really enjoyed it. Silly, self aware, but also heroic and action packed. Quite Marvelly actually. Slight slump in the middle but overall very entertaining. Anyone else seen it?

But more importantly I started watching A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and I love it! It's such a refreshing take on GoT. Warm, funny, personal - I love seeing the world from Dunc's pov and on and on individual level, away from all the high stakes political plotting. Brilliant concept well realised

The Star Wars timeline-order watch continues. Boba Fett: done. Strange show. I didn't hate it but it first episodes were really slow and it hard-deviated into The Mandalorian at one point and seemed to forget what it was about. I liked the episodes but it was a confusing shift.
