Feels like tonight was a turning point for many (not all, but many) mainstream media orgs. They knew in advance that Trump would spew lies, and they were ready with deep skepticism and thorough factchecks. Even Fox (for its own reasons ofc) was like “whoa fella” Good to see. Hope it keeps up.

The most disturbing aspect of Trump’s speech was not its content, lies and lunatic conclusions, but the fact he’d give it and think it helps justify his case for restricting our voting rights and meddling in November’s election. He doesn’t think he needs facts to support his assault on democracy.

The declassified documents Trump just released tonight to “prove” the 2020 election was “rigged” actually show that Russia tried to interfere to hurt Biden and help Trump.

Trump revealed how weak, scared, and broken he is. This was not the address of a confident President. They know they can only win by cheating and trying to meddle in our elections. MAGA is dying.

Following Putin's footsteps, Trump makes his attempt towards consolidating a dictatorship in the US under the pretext of "election security." Trump rambled for a full 25 minutes. Yet ironically, the released documents show evidence that Russia and China were helping Trump.

Following Trump's logic tonight, Congress should convene an emergency session to invalidate the 2020 and 2024 elections, meaning Trump is not the legitimate President of the United States, nor would anyone in his administration. The U.S. is effectively operating as a rogue state.

That's the plan. If he were smarter he wouldn't be telegraphing it so obviously.

I've lived in Beijing, and the thing is - they don't have elections.

Instead of midterms, the US should call it in and hold an unprecedented emergency national election to redo the 2020 and 2024 elections.

Although Trump speech was a predictable mash of recycled lies, one encouraging note was how little coverage it got. The major networks passed and some cable networks broadcast parts of it only to debunk them. @nytimes.com coverage was refreshingly straightforward, calling out the malarkey.

Trump actually handed congressional and senate democrats a huge win tonight, if only they'd know how to use it, or at least have the courage for it.

There will be more rapes of female service members, and this testosterone thing will be the excuse to let them off the hook.
