WHAT IF WE HAD POLITICAL WILL? Transportation dollars are scarce, but a new progressive mayoral administration can make a big impact without breaking the bank. Here’s my list. 🧵

DE-PAVE OUR STREETS. Car infrastructure is expensive to maintain. As we de-motorize, places like Paris show that we can peel back the layers of asphalt and concrete to create a renewed, re-humanized, and re-naturalized city.

The Deskford Carnyx - the head of an Iron Age war trumpet shaped to represent a wild boar. The carnyx was found in 1816 at Deskford in Banffshire when digging for peat. Now part of the collections at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. 📸 My own.

this is not a walkable, affordable, livable, or climate adaptive future but rather one that focuses most density on the most toxic and unlivable streets. and no. EVs don't solve this. it's a geometry problem. not an engine problem.

The article also includes a map I made of all data centers and natural gas power plants in California, including emissions from those plants. Some gas power companies that see profit in the AI boom say they can capture their carbon emissions, and deserve clean electricity credits from the state.

Today is my last day at Blizzard! Working with the World of Warcraft team has been such a fun, positive experience. I can't wait for players to see what we made together. Now I'm looking for my next role in games, full time or contract, indie or AAA. You can check out my portfolio on my website! 🖤

Today I study this lil fella! I was halfway through before I realized I was looking at the back and not the front... Comes from my previous sketch inside Hoover Dam. Turned it to make a better study.

It must be hard to be an artist working on Hades II, given how much time they'd spend with their eyes popping out and their tongues rolling out and hitting themselves in the head with a big cartoon hammer as they shouted awooga

One big reason for this: conservative political forces in Seattle spent the early ‘20s scaring people about downtown safety in order to win elections - mainly because they wanted to keep taxes low. The result is a widespread view outside the city limits that downtown is scary. (It’s not.)

The Earth Is Drying Out and We Need to Act Urgently
Three-quarters of the global population, or about 6 billion people, live in areas where fresh water has dwindled since 2002.
