If you have a film shot by Gregg Toland, of course you'd release it 4 times. Which Howard Hughes did with "The Outlaw". Shooting wrapped in 1941, it then saw an original release in 1943. Before re-releases in 1947, 1950, & 1952. And Hughes sold the film to himself (he owned RKO at the time) in 1948.
