I’m in a medical debt/collections war because Bon Secours fucked up my billing, told me to wait 30 days for them to fix it, and within that 30 day period, they sent it to fucking collections. I refuse to pay it. Now the collections agency calls me 4x a day.

Based on new USDA data released today, 44 states would have to pay tens or even hundreds of millions of dollars under Senate Republicans' #SNAP cost-shift plan. If a state can't fully pay, they would have to cut many low-income families off SNAP or end their program altogether.

Even with tweaks, the Senate plan would still cut health and food assistance, leave millions uninsured, and leave states struggling to fill the gaps.

Under the Republican health agenda, about 17 million would lose health coverage and become uninsured. That's not minutiae.

We have not seen the final language but presume that the US Senate just voted 50-50 with Vance breaking the tie to pass the OBBB with over $1 trillion in Medicaid cuts. A sad day.

Under the slightly revised version, each state’s unfunded mandate would be based on error rate data that is 3, rather than 2 years old. States would know the share of SNAP benefits they are being forced to absorb a year earlier. But no one should think this fixes this policy.

I don’t know how and don’t even care, but this administration needs to be ended. It is evil and profoundly destructive.

🥗 A huge problem with work requirements is that they disregard care work as work. Raising a child is work. Caring for an ill partner or elderly parent is work. Grandparents caring for grandkids are working. But they would be cut off of SNAP unless they work 20 hours/week in addition to care work.

“Finalizing” (lol because is anything final in this work these days) our analysis of the impacts of the House Medicaid and SNAP proposals and attending the VA Commission to End Hunger Meeting — the bottom line is Virginians will suffer under these proposals. We must fight.

House E & Commerce Ctte all night Medicaid markup over The Committee voted on party lines for at least $625 billion in Medicaid cuts thru a series of complex policy changes. I'm deeply dismayed that the House is rushing to cut Medicaid w/o understanding the full impact + no complete CBO score.

Many SNAP participants work unstable, low-wage jobs that have unpredictable hours & no benefits like paid sick leave. SNAP's work requirement takes food away from workers who are between jobs, working inconsistent hours, or get tangled in the red tape of reporting work hours.

Waivers of SNAP's work requirement are vital because many unemployed workers need more than the 3-month limit to find a new job, especially when the economy is weaker. But even when the unemployment rate is <5%, 1 in 3 unemployed workers need 15 weeks or longer to find work.

The Ways and Means committee bill includes a slew of expansions of tax-advantaged health savings accounts – totaling more than $40 billion/10y – that mostly benefit high-income people and do nothing to address the problems people face affording care. www.cbpp.org/blog/five-re...
