I was at 500 Dawes press conference today. Had a chance to talk to Ryan Endoh and other residents. The last photo was a moment that cut thru any politicization of the issue: a resident happily pointed out that after deeming the building too dangerous to deliver, mail service had resumed.

So far I’ve done karaoke with two city council candidates, one sitting councillor, and one (past) mayoral candidate. I am excluding hosting karaoke at the press gallery party because that would include far too many of them to make this a Pokémon-esque challenge.

Once a year dozens of people listen to me yap for two hours and they don’t even run away or try to move on to the next meeting agenda item. What a thrill.

This was a beautiful event, and I am happy to see Friends and Families for Safe Streets begin memorialising pedestrians taken too soon by traffic violence. They are planning more of these and could use your support and presence.

Been trying to lock in some “uncommon” but popular karaoke songs…so far the ones that I’ve enjoyed most are: Banquet - Bloc Party Wolf Like Me - TV on the Radio Seasons - Future Islands Popular enough to get heads bobbing, even singalongs, uncommon enough that people perk up a bit.
