Marcia Hole (Ward C) just announced her resignation from EPSB. I know this took serious courage, and I applaud her for choosing the difficult but ethical path. This leaves just 6 out of 9 seats filled on the board, meaning that yet another trustee will have to take on serving two wards.

Despite Edmonton Public obtaining an illegal exemption to their responsibilities to provide in person learning to disabled students in January for 3 out of 4 weeks, they still managed to lock 50 disabled kids in prison cells. CLASSY.

The average salary for an education support worker in Alberta is $34,500. The average wage of an educational assistant is just $26,000. EPSB trustees make $39,353 per year and may work as little as 10 hours a week. And that's before things like additional per diems, car allowance, expense account…

Looks like a justice agreed this ministerial order was discriminatory and granted the emergency injunction. It's almost as if you can't play fast and loose with the educational rights of disabled kids, just because they're disabled.

If you ever feel bad about your job, just remember you could be a lawyer whose job is to defend the government when they're being sued for discriminating against disabled kids. Yikes. 😬

I'm still baffled to think that "of course we can't keep disabled kids safe" is an excuse to exclude them. Shouldn't it be a reason to work much harder to include them? Public education is not publicing or educating like it's supposed to be. Our kids first. Your kids next.

My many years of disability advocacy have highlighted the shocking disparities between provinces. Its been especially heartbreaking to watch the UCP dismantle FSCD, a system people used to move here for, as well as our health care and public education. We need federal oversight.

Every voucher program in the US has failed in terms of educating kids. Like literally every single one. Only thing vouchers do is line the pockets of grifters with taxpayer money at the expense of children, who will in return get the shittiest education experience that grifters always deliver.

I know that providing programming for these students is a challenge with the proper support, let alone the crisis that is happening in public education in this province. But that parents were told to keep their kids (with exceptional needs) home from school must be a human rights violation. #ABEd

My niece was being denied access to school. I did all what was suggested and the school has now reversed its actions of discrimination towards her and has granted her access on Tuesday. This should never have happened. The superintendent needs to resign for his callous actions!
