Strong public education is built on community support. We need to come togetherâparents, teachers, and citizensâto demand the resources and respect Alberta students deserve.

Interesting read on the upcoming school trustee elections. The article points out how special interest groups are targeting school board elections. It's vital that teachers, parents, and others pay close attention to the platforms for candidates in trustee elections.

ATA press conference time - -government is still offering the same wages teachers already voted down in May - Government/TEBA wouldnât entertain any proposals about class size limits or pupil-teacher ratios - ATA asking for 3,000 more teachers was a last ditch effort to try and address class size

As the Smith, Nicolaides and the rest of the UCP inevitably attempt to distance themselves from these sweeping book bans, keep in mind one thing... They wrote the order. So this was either deliberate or they are incompetent. Those are the only two choices.

Well, the list of books being banned from EPSB is appalling. And it's very likely that an author on this list will get their other works pulled too, especially in the absence of teacher librarians. There are books on this list that changed my life. This is what the UCP is taking away from kids.

âThe banning of books is a hallmark of censorship, not democracy.â Literature is a lifeline for many students. Through the word, we learn about the world around us. It is time to end this dangerous censorship and promote critical thinking in schools.

"To accommodate these students, administration said the schoolâs library, music room and wellness centre will all be converted into classroom space." This is why teachers voted to strike. And why we should all support them.

Teachers are struggling to manage complexity in the modern classroom. The Minister is pleased that his government was able to provide more funding for educationâŚbut Alberta still has the lowest funding per student in the country.

The 2025 Budget is a disappointment and doesnât reflect the priorities of Albertans. We see the continued underfunding of healthcare and education. We need more schools in Edmonton-South West and this budget doesnât account for the building of new schools.
