The bit in Octo 2 where the sketchy human trafficker tries to jump Agnea and she shows up with her gang of dead-eyed murder monsters is such a a funny confluence of story elements to me.

Despite being deep in the turbo grind of Labyrinth of Galleria, I fell off Octopath because the grind sucked. NIS I think understands how you want to convert time into stats and builds around it.

I wish I hadn't fallen off Octopath 2, because goddamn those characters are so good.

The thing i think is sad about Final Fantasy is the kind of storytelling you want from that series is being done in Octopath.

Flanderizing works so well in anime humor. Its one of the things it does well because reduction to traits suits moe aesthetics.

Overgrowth wrestled with empathy for Aliens, and Drowning Deeps WAS set up that way and then just... doesn't do it? It ends in a fine manner as a regular horror movie, but I was hungry for a complication that had us inside the monsters' heads more.

Gotta read the new Fetcher-Malkin this week. Drowning Deeps was FINE, but I think it's real "middle of the road" approach made it feel like it fell far shorter than overgrowth.
