You are getting hate not because people don’t understand the complicity of the standardized education system in public suppression, but because you are attacking the only individuals within that system that consistently work against its confines to produce a better outcome for its victims.

it's neat to see all the dev activity around here and all the cool stuff that people are making but i do kinda wish it didn't come at the cost of trashing on the ecosystem i've been developing on for the past 3 years every other day

my media literacy was kinda garbage up until i got really depressed, started writing poetry, went "oh huh, art is a form of abstract self-expression," and then started viewing the weird niche art people make a lot more closely and sincerely

On reading Iris Murdoch's The Sea, The sea and why kids these days can't read
Recent discourse has it that kids these days, even at elite colleges, don't read books anymore. They used to read one novel a week for a single course in English literature. Now they struggle to read ...

You wouldn't believe how many shouts into the void there are by people with only ten followers in crisis Even if you don't add it, I'd appreciate it if you go "like" the feed so it gains visibility I've been that person before. It doesn't take much just to drop by and tell them they are seen.
add a skeleton here at some point

this is pretty interesting. periodic exposure to very brief (2ms) flashes of light for an extended period of time can, while not making you feel less subjectively sleepy, suppress melatonin secretion and delay sleep onset by ~2hrs on average src:

Just came across this on Mastodon and thought I'd share it for anyone wondering if adding image alt text is "worth it." ChanceyFleet: "As a Blind person i never thought i would be on social media savoring photos... all dispatches from a dimension of the world that i otherwise wouldn't experience."

In the "spicy thoughts people don't say" department: Amazon has unleashed a lot of bad stuff into the world, but imo among the most destructive things they did was make it too easy to buy shit you don't need and normalize mindless consumption.
