#OTD in 1957, six McDonnell RF-101C of the 363rd Tactical Reconnaissance Wing flew "Operation Sun Run" where they set six new transcontinental speed records across the US. RF-101C 56-0166 was one of the aircraft that set the records and now resides in the US Air Force Museum in Dayton, OH.

Recently, I had the pleasure of contributing to the US WWII Foundation's latest film project, a documentary focused on an individual serving in England with the Mighty Eighth. Filming at Bletchley Park really added to the day. Check out the Foundation and its extensive free film programme.

All my years exiled in the US and now the UK and I have yet to find a proper 'handheld meat pie' in either place, let alone the breadth and quality of the options in NZ. (Honourable mention to Australia.) All hail the handheld meat pie.

Watching the 120kg+ Squat (men) at the Powerlifting World Equipped Championships on TV, a sport new to me (I've only seen Olympics style weightlifting). Greatly 'amused' (impressed) that it takes FIVE HUGE GUYS to 'spot' the one huge guy doing the squat! It's 450kg so far O.O

My addled brain went: "Hah. Amusing. Also I never knew Blaine from Predator's first name was Rick, good trivia, and he totally used a minigun as a SAW, so hah, good joke" Which goes to show my mind is stewed in 80s action films instead of well made cinema ;) (TIL Blain is his FIRST name)

Love working at an airfield during a UK wind and rain storm - I only had to walk about 10m from the library to my car and it felt like being waterboarded ;) Special shout out to flightline maintainers tonight (and AGE I guess!), you all deserve more accolades than you ever get!
