Life costs MORE if you’re disabled: - Extra energy costs for medical equipment - Accessible transport or car adaptations - Specialist services and therapies - Paying more to get the weekly shop delivered - Having to pay for a carer - Higher heating bills

📢New
@jrf-uk.bsky.social
analysis There is no way to cut £5bn from PIP without affecting people with problems feeding and clothing themselves or getting around everyday. A govt that vowed to end the 'moral scar' of foodbank use shouldn't leave disabled people at greater risk of needing one. ⤵️

Great to see this work continuing about how to tackle public debt, how it relates to child poverty and how a miniumum income guarantee is part of the solution.

Last night we had the AGM for Broke Not Broken. 2057 food supports delivered over 5700 people, 2700 of whom were children. 💜 As an independent food bank we have developed a range of supporting projects to tackle the effects poverty has on our community, and fill the gaps in a safety net. 💚

Single parent families are disproportionately in poverty The Child Maintenance Service is supposed to ensure children get enough support from both parents. But it's utterly failing. Proud that we supported this amazing research which sets out how to fix it:
