Creating spaces for people, not cars, enhances the beauty, appeal, safety, and economic sustainability of our city. We’re proud of how far we’ve come, and have a tremendous amount of hope for future developments in Indianapolis.

Here’s the full letter I originally sent to my local newspaper before they asked me to cut it down under 300 words. We’ve now published the full version on our

We're a small Strong Towns group now, but also a great group of people focused on building community and safer streets as our city works towards each newer version of itself.

Hamilton County is an outlier. Of Indiana's 10 most populous cities, every city has a municipal bus service, except Carmel, Fishers and Noblesville.

This thread got me thinking: How much money do cities spend on the effects of traffic crashes? Using classic "you have to spend money to save money" logic, would it actually save money to build safer infrastructure? Turns out, yes.

When you design cities for people, you get life in return. Human-scale details invite movement, pause, and connection. It's how a street becomes a place rather than a corridor.

Every Saturday morning, the Carmel Farmers Market offers free bike valet. It’s a well-used amenity that makes cycling the easy choice and helps reduce car trips for a popular weekly destination.
