I played and finished Mouthwashing last night. Gods above, how fucking *messed up* that was. Horror on so many levels and just disturbing the whole way through. Great game, but uh, maybe not something to play if your mental health is a bit lower than usual.

In less "I'm pissed" posting, I did finish Unicorn Overlord finally and I've started on Clock Tower Rewind. Which feels kind of clunky but I'll adapt. Mouthwashing is also on the list. Not sure what the next bigger game will be. Ys Origin, Alan Wake 2, Omensight, all possibilities.

I cannot describe how much of a classic era Shadowrun kick I'm still on. Getting that 2E core book unleashed the feral 16 year old me who had never played tabletop who has tons of ideas and wants to play so badly. I would 100% play a 2E game right now.

I've been playing Unicorn Overlord. And I really like it... however it's at least 10-15 hours too long. Halfway through the last full area I'm just slogging through when it feels like the game has run out of unique battles. And new characters have no time to develop or interact anymore.

Being in a shitty headspace *and* feeling like people are ignoring me is a shitty combination.

Finished reading, for the first time in probably 20 years, the Shadowrun novel 2XS by the very missed Nigel Findley. Not just a good Shadowrun book, but a really fun book in general. And makes me again want to play/read/write in that 2050-ish, 2e era of the game.

Kahless tells us that in the face of censors, of oppressors who would use your words against you even if true, you must speak out all the more loudly. All you do by silencing yourself voluntarily is save them the effort of silencing you.

I recognise that a lot of horror requires *someone* to hold the Idiot Ball and do something really fucking stupid instead of just going the fuck home, but the audiobook I'm listening to is going the extra mile in making the characters so very very fucking stupid just to keep the plot going.

Generally I try not to get riled up about various tabletop RPG things. But I can and do get ornery about Shadowrun since it means a lot to me. I won't piss on CGL for everything they've done since it's not all bad, but at the same time there are things about what they've done I'm a very non-fan of.

I think I have *finally* nailed down the base mechanic for my survival horror tabletop game. I got attached to one design, realised it wasn't going to work, but then couldn't figure out a good alternative until last night. Now I can actually progress on archetypes.

Tonight, doing session zero of my 13th Age Glorantha campaign. Which is about *vengeance* in large part. It's set after Starbrow's Rebellion and before the Dragonrise, for those of you who are familiar with Glorantha. I hope to see these characters take a big part in upcoming "canon" events.
