Didn't get to these last night but fuck yes I did. Btbam is always a good time (this is like my 6th or 7th time seeing them) and seeing TWIABP play one of my favorite albums of the year was awesome. Hail the Sun played flawlessly and had a ton of energy, I can't wait for their new album next month.

It’s been an absolutely phenomenal month for guitar centric albums. Pile, Deftones, Pool Kids, The World is a Beautiful Place, La Dispute, Big Thief and Fleshwater have all put out good to great albums. It’s choice paralysis every time I want to put something on.

the new TWIABP is a work of art that I wish didn't have to be made, but I'm glad someone did. so many vivid images from distant past, & even future, to throw the present in sharp relief. the new TWIABP album has a lot of great moments but the part that knocks me the fuck out every time is in For Those Who Will Outlive Us when it sounds like the album is about to end and then it just kicks in the beat again and builds the tension back up into this super cathartic final verse

I think my favorite move a band makes is when they go from being brash and inventive to being truly excellent at their craft. That often involves knowing when to hold back and when to really bring it. Both TWIABP and Pool Kids show this in spades with their new records.

TWIABP- Dreams of Being Dust: I did not expect them to take the direction they did but I am so glad they did. They hit all the notes I was expecting them to and found notes to hit that I didn't expect. 6.5/7
